Second Floor
Second floor has books, organized alphabetically by Library of Congress (LC) call numbers, beginning with DJ in the far NW corner and circling around the floor, ending with Z in the far southwest corner of the building. Books of standard height are on shelving with
yellow
labels.
Taller books in sections are labeled either Quarto
(medium height, blue shelf labels) or Folio
(tallest height, orange shelf labels). The
Quarto and Folio sections are located around the outer edges of the North and
South walls of the room (see map). Quarto DJ to K and Folio DJ to
K are on the North side, and continue with Quarto L to Z and Folio
L to Z on the South side. Overhead signs, color maps, and color-coded
shelf labels are available to assist you in locating your LC books. Use MNCAT
the library’s catalog at: http://mncat.lib.umn.edu
to learn the call number of a specific book title.
The Digital Library Development Laboratory is on the West side of second floor.
Restrooms and small study rooms are available on the 2nd floor. A telephone is in the stairwell lobby.
