Election Insite was built by reference staff at Wilson Library to show the informational side of the election. We aimed to make Election Insite a portal for different types of media and different sources of news.
As librarians, we have a duty to search, retrieve, and disseminate knowledge and information. We applied those practices to Election Insite and came up with a unique mesh of information that when stitched together provides an interesting take on how technology is used in the coming election.
The site contains RSS feeds from several news sources, videos from the candidates themselves, voting records for key issues, election posters by students, new books on the topics of politics, elections, and democracy, a place to tell us your reason to vote, key indexes and databases for politics, and most importantly, information to register and get your vote out.
This election is very interesting and important for many reasons. It is our hope that our website will inform you and be a place that will spark your enthusiasm and your interest in the vote.
